Privacy Policy

1. Introduction

Marto is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and share your personal data when you use the Marto platform in Sierra Leone.

2. Information We Collect

We may collect your name, phone number, email, profile photo, government-issued identification details, driver's license details, booking and trip history, payment records, precise and approximate location data, device information, and app usage data.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to create and manage your account, process bookings, rides, and payments, verify identity (KYC), prevent fraud, provide support, improve platform performance, and comply with legal obligations.

For rides, we use location data to match Riders with nearby Drivers, show the vehicle's progress to and from the pickup, estimate arrival times, calculate fares, and support safety. A Driver's location is collected while they are online and available for Trips. A Rider's location is collected around the time of a Trip request and during the Trip.

4. Legal Basis for Processing

We process data based on contractual necessity (to provide services), legitimate interests (security and fraud prevention), legal obligations, and where required, your consent.

5. Sharing of Information

We may share limited data with booking and trip counterparties (Renter, Owner, Rider, or Driver), including the approximate location and contact details needed to complete a ride, as well as payment providers, identity verification partners, customer support providers, analytics providers, and competent legal authorities where required by law.

6. Data Retention

We retain personal data only as long as necessary for service delivery, legal compliance, dispute resolution, and fraud prevention. Retention periods may vary by data category. Detailed trip location traces are kept only as long as needed for safety, support, and dispute resolution, and are then reduced or removed.

7. Data Security

Marto uses technical and organizational measures to protect your data, including access controls, encrypted communication channels, and monitoring for suspicious activity.

8. Your Rights

You may request access, correction, or deletion of your personal data, subject to legal and operational limitations. You may also object to certain processing activities or request restriction where applicable.

9. Cookies and Device Data

We may use device identifiers and similar technologies to maintain sessions, improve performance, detect abuse, and understand how users interact with the platform.

10. Cross-Border Processing

Where service providers process data outside Sierra Leone, Marto applies reasonable safeguards to protect your personal data in line with this policy.

11. Children's Privacy

Marto is not intended for individuals under 21 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal data from minors.

12. Changes to this Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated through the app or other appropriate channels.
